Frequently asked questions

FAQ
What are the benefits of glass railings and guardrails?

The main advantage of glass railings is, without a doubt, their transparency. Strong and durable, they are suitable for both indoor and outdoor stairs and railings. On a balcony or terrace, they give you an unobstructed view of your yard, pool or property so you can fully enjoy your surroundings. They are also very effective at blocking the wind on elevated terraces.

Indoors, glass railings, balustrades and guardrails make spaces feel larger and reduce the feeling of being closed in by offering a clear view between floors. Glass railings also let light flow freely to brighten your rooms and showcase your decor in style, whether in a house, condo, business or office building.

The benefits of glass railings, balustrades and guardrails:

  • Durability and strength
  • Increased transparency and natural light
  • Clean, timeless and stylish design
  • Easy maintenance and safe use
  • Excellent long-term investment for your property

Where can a glass railing or balustrade be installed?

Designed to withstand Québec’s harsh climate, glass railings and balustrades are suitable for both the interior and exterior of a home. They are an ideal solution to enclose and secure a balcony, terrace, mezzanine, staircase and more. Thanks to their transparency, glass railings blend seamlessly into any decor or architectural style and will adapt to changes you make to your property over time, while respecting your needs and budget.

Are glass railings safe and resistant?

The glass railings and guardrails we design are made of tempered glass, which is treated to withstand impacts and temperature changes. Tempered glass will not break on contact with hail or freezing rain and will keep children safe, even the most energetic ones. Highly resistant, our railings and guardrails exceed building code requirements, making them an extremely safe option for any home or business.

Glass guardrails are an effective way to ensure the safety of a staircase, mezzanine or balcony. Their features meet all applicable building code standards, making them a completely safe and appropriate option to prevent falls. Contact us to learn more.

Are glass railings difficult to maintain?

Contrary to popular belief, these types of railings are easy to maintain and do not require frequent polishing to keep their shine. You only need to clean them once or twice a year, especially at the end of spring when there is a lot of pollen in the air.

How much does a glass railing or guardrail project cost?

The price of glass railings and balustrades varies according to several factors, including the finish, the way the glass is installed, the model chosen and the complexity of the project. Prices start at $90 per linear foot for outdoor glass railings and $175 per linear foot for indoor glass railings, including installation.

How does the installation of glass railings work?

One of our experts can come to your home to present our different models and discuss the options available to you in order to provide an estimate that matches your expectations and needs.

Once the quote is accepted, we prepare a detailed plan of the railing or guardrail. Allow about 10 days for production (this may vary depending on demand), then half a day to a full day for installation, depending on the complexity of the project and the preparation required. Where are the glass railings manufactured?

Rampes et Balcons is committed to supporting Québec’s manufacturing industry, which is why the components of our railings, guardrails and balustrades (such as aluminum and tempered glass) are entirely produced in Québec. In addition to being high quality and featuring refined designs, these products are adapted to our changing climate and help reduce our environmental footprint by limiting transportation.
